Welcome to Rose City Rollers Intro to Derby. We are so glad you are here, and we are so excited to bring in new members!

In this series, you will attend 4, 2-hour practices, learning basic skating skills with a roller derby flair. At the end of the series, you will be invited to become a member of Rose City Rollers and continue your derby journey.

While there are 4 weeks of practices, in duration this series spans 5 weeks. There is no practice on November 2nd while Rose City Rollers hosts the Women's Flat Track Derby Association's Global Championships at the Portland Memorial Coliseum (come watch!)

Who is this program for?

Skaters who are:

    • 18+ years old
    • Able to stand on skates unassisted
    • Get up from a fall without help

While these are basic skating skills, they are taught through a roller derby lens and layered with light pack drills.

Where: The Hangar @ Oaks Park

How much: $150

What you'll need:

  • Skates, Pads, HelmetDon't have your own? No sweat! Our gear lending library has you covered and loaners are included in your reservation for the program - just make sure to fill out your gear section of the registration.  Have your own? Even better! You'll need a low boot. High boot or in-line skates won't work. Helmet should be rated for multi-impact. A bike helmet is not suitable for derby.
  • Mouthguard - Sisu is our preferred brand because it can be remolded, We offer them for $20. We also have a non-moldable kind for $5. *SISU mouthguards will need to be picked up before the series starts, more info to come.
  • Water bottle - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
  • Snacks - bring a small snack that will help give you energy. Protein bars are great.

We look forward to seeing you on the track!
