Welcome to Rose City Rollers Intro to Derby. We are so glad you are here, and we are so excited to bring in new members!
In this series, you will attend 4, 2-hour practices, learning basic skating skills with a roller derby flair. At the end of the series, you will be invited to become a member of Rose City Rollers and continue your derby journey.
While there are 4 weeks of practices, in duration this series spans 5 weeks. There is no practice on April 20th while Rose City Rollers hosts Bridge City Riot, a junior roller derby tournament hosted at the Hangar at Oaks Park (check our website for tickets!)
Who is this program for?
Skaters who are:
The skills covered include standing and falling, stopping, and crossovers. More advanced skaters will learn backwards skating, lateral movement, and transitions (changing from forwards to backwards skating while rolling). While these are basic skating skills, they are taught through a roller derby lens and layered with light pack drills.
When: Saturdays, 8 to 10 am (4/6, 4/13, 4/27 and 5/4). NO practice on 4/20
