Adult Intro to Derby Bootcamp

Welcome to Rose City Rollers Intro to Derby Bootcamp. We are so glad you are here and thank you for your patience as we learn new ways to bring in new members.

In this bootcamp, you will skate for 3 hours and learn basic derby skills. There is no contact in this stage of your derby journey. This is a great opportunity to "try before you buy" a membership at RCR. At the end of the 3 hours, you will be invited to become a full member of RCR and attend our larger format practices.

While we would love to open this up to anyone interested, COVID restrictions say otherwise.

Who is this program for?

  • Skaters who are:
    • Able to stand on skates unassisted.
    • Get up from a fall without help.
  • Fully vaccinated skaters
  • Skaters able to wear a mask the entire time

At the end of the 4 hours, you'll have a better understanding of what derby and RCR are all about.

Celebrate!

We'll celebrate the end of the bootcamp with a party! That's right, we'll open the Plow Stop (our bar inside the Hangar) and offer FREE food and drinks from our sponsors Sizzle Pie and Pabst Blue Ribbon from 7-8p. What a great chance to meet the cohort off-skates and celebrate your accomplishments.

When: Saturday 10/2 4p-8p

Where: The Hangar @ Oaks Park

How much: $75

What you'll need:

  • Skates, Pads, HelmetDon't have your own? No sweat! Our gear lending library has you covered and loaners are included in your reservation for the program - just make sure to fill out your gear section of the registration.  Have your own? Even better! You'll need a low boot (like the ones pictured above. High boot or in-line skates won't work. Helmet should be rated for multi-impact. A bike helmet is not suitable for derby.
  • Mouthguard - Sisu is our preferred brand because it can be remolded. We offer them for $20. We also have a non-moldable kind for $5.
  • Water bottle - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
  • Snacks - bring a small snack that will help give you energy. Protein bars are great.

We look forward to seeing you on the track!
